Its unlikely that you'll get anything different. If anyone COBs its generally just to replace a few seniors who graduated in the fall. Chapters either don't do it or they go after so and so's best friend.

What if you have a decent amount of friends in it? Do all houses do cob, even the top ones

No not all chapters so COB because most aren’t required to do it. That said, asking if “even the top ones” do cob tells me that it’s because you feel entitled that you want to drop. So look at yourself in the mirror, not your list. There’s like 200 girls in a chapter. If you can’t find At least a few you like out of 200 no matter what the sorority, that’s your fault.

Check yourself, You are very rude and unkind. She is asking a simple question and wanting to understand. This is a hard tough emotional process. There are girls in very sad dark places right now. You have no idea how your words could hurt someone or what could result. That falls at your feet. Your tone and bullying are uncalled for. This is the kind of behavior that gives Greek life a bad rap and why so many look down on the entire system and think so poorly of girls who choose to be in sororities. It begs the questions more back to you. Self reflection would benefit you. Acting with more kindness in your daily walk would benefit you This kind of behavior is cruel and will land you on the outside looking in when real life comes your way and things really matter. Appalling.

top houses rarely cob. and if you have a lot of a friends in a house just remember, houses have hundreds of girls that also have friends trying to cob. your friends only have so much say, especially as freshman, to get you in. so I wouldn’t count on cob.

Not all houses will cob. The only houses that will are those that don’t meet quota. The houses that are “less desired” usually will be the ones that cob and that is not always the case.if anyone does cob good chance it will be the houses you have left and don’t want. If you truly don’t want any of the houses you have left you should probably drop so you don’t take a spot from someone who truly wants to be there.

Yes. It looks like a lot of girls are planning to drop and move on. The process didn’t work for them and it’s not just about being in a sorority. It’s about finding a mutual fit and they have not found that. That said, a lot of the girls will be moving on and not looking back wiser and more clear in who they are, what is important to them and what matters. Michigan has so much to offer! There are loads of ways to connect with others and make genuine authentic friendships.

Continuous Open Bidding

Implemented by chapters that did not make quota and experience pledge and/ or active member drops.

It is very true even the more competitive chapters have actives deactivate opening spots in their allowed max number. It’s quite rare and not to be expected that those would be chapters offering COB’s unless you have a serious hook with girls that are already active.

I’d say if you drop then run forward and don’t look back. COB likely won’t be an option. Best of luck- thankfully lots of great clubs at Michigan.

The COB/ Fall Rush scenario and how that plays out remains to be seen but isn't something to count on by any means. Going forward is terrific advice.

If you have a lot of friends in a house, and they couldn't pull you through for recruitment, they definitely won't be able to pull you through in COB

If you want a top house then don’t do it because you won’t get one thru COB. if you want to meet a group of girls you CONNECT with and you don’t see that with in houses you have left then sorority life may not work out for you. Perhaps look at who you want to surround yourself with, maybe do the sophomore rush next year after joining more clubs

Lots of hard truths in these comments. If you are the type of person who seeks to find the good in life-this process works -and you remain always interested in the people you meet and the POTENTIAL for great friendships. If you are caught up in what you think life owes you...or with who you THiNK are your people based on ranks or reputations...you are not truly looking at yourself to see who you are, who you might become and the value of ALL of the people you meet.
