Michigan is different than a lot of schools in terms of what you need to do:
1. If you always rank every sorority and don’t suicide bid, you will get a bid at the end of recruitment.
2. For the top sororities, you either have to be drop-dead gorgeous and super easy to talk to OR know someone that can pull strings. That’s why every pc on campus has some weird girls in it.
3. GPA is looked at but not ultimately a deciding factor for most sororities as you have to be smart to get into this school.
4. Extracurriculars don’t really matter unless those clubs or academic fraternities lead to you meeting girls in sororities.

Michigan is a school known for dirty rushing and at the end of the day, it’s about who you know, where you’re from, how trendy you are and how well you can keep the conversation going. Don’t be anyone that you’re not, just be yourself and try to have the most natural conversation possible because they want to get to know your personality.

If you want phi, read the beta delta document. Nothing has changed.

Don’t know what Top Tier sorority you are in but for mine it is the number one factor. If you don’t have the required GPA no matter how cool you are, or pretty, you will be dropped. No questions asked. School>Everything. Plus, if you don’t have a good GPA and get in you will just be put on academic probation and can’t run for office or go to date parties so what’s the fun in paying for that?

Each sorority has their own academic requirement for membership (typically anywhere from 2.5-2.8).
Other than that, it isn’t like applying to college. You don’t need to be a part of 5 organizations and be bilingual to get in.
However, you do need to be able to afford it. On average the sorority dues fall around $1200 a year plus the $9000-13000 to live in the house.
If you go to the FSL page you can get more information on each individual’s dues. If you go through recruitment and decide that only a few you would be able to afford financially, you can always drop out before prefs and after bid day reach out to the sororities recruitment coordinator to see if they are giving out snap bids or COBing anyone and attempt to join through that way.
