recs for sorority rush

Do you need recs for sorority rush? Are they recommended?

In the south you 100% need them but at Michigan they really on help if you are a legacy. Or a “partial” legacy (aunts or cousins).

it depends on the sorority. in some places it can actually hurt you to be a legacy bc some places if ur a legacy and they invite you back to prefs they have to give u a bid, so they won’t take you to prefs unless they’re really sure they want you

I don't think they are necessary at all, if you are a legacy at a house you can fill that out in your rush sign up thing and the house which you are a legacy at will have that noted, but letter of recs are definitely not necessary and on the recruitment side (maybe the people in charge do) I have never seen one or heard about anyone having them
