is sorority hazing real?

Do sororities really haze and how bad is it? I want to go greek to make friends and have sisterhood which is what it’s supposedly for, so I just don’t understand why the hazing horror stories I’m hearing would be necessary for that. Are they real or just people speaking on something they don’t know about?

Yeah last year tridelt beat one of their pledges with a 2x4 and gave them brain damage\n\n\n\n\nNvm wrong place

It's not nearly as bad as frat hazing, but it does occur. When it does happen, it's mainly psychological rather than physical or forced drinking. Stuff like having to give lap dances to older guys in the frats that they mix with etc.

What about the pledges that had to do multiple shots sucking off the the abs of their PGP pledges? There wasn't an option to say 'no' and only the pledges had to do it. Guess I'd call that hazing. Or the sorority pledges who got handcuffed a few years ago to a pole...

Everyone who has said there is actual hazing is for sure a geed. No sorority hazes here at all lmao
