greek rank is toxic
by: End misogynyGreek rank is honestly so toxic. Telling 18 year old girls their ranking is based of off “how hot” a bunch of fraternity man-children think they are ruins perfectly good sisterhoods. Freshmen are afraid to join the sorority they love in fear of constantly being made fun of, and sorority girls try to recruit who they “think” will get them a better PGP instead of who they actually like. This is the University of Michigan, one of the most liberal “woke” college campuses in the USA. How about we stop allowing fraternities to pit the sororities against each other and actually try some Panhel love? Let’s end the misogyny that harms Greek Life!

18 year old girls are told this because, well, like it or not, that's basically how rankings are determined. The sororities that are considered higher tier, have had, on average, over a period of the last say 4-6 years, girls that are/were considered to be more attractive than those in the lower tiers. Same with the guys for that matter. It's not just the sororitys. Also it's not just looks, money plays a big role in it. Is it shallow? Kind of, but that's just life. No one is saying you're worth less as a person for being in a lower sorority.
If it makes you feel better, most people actually in greek life know that there is a lot more variation and subjectivity in said average level of attractiveness than a straight tier list would otherwise indicate.

I graduated this past year... and no that is no how life is. May some people be shallow? Yes. But news flash, your boss isn’t going to give you a promotion because they think you are hotter than the others.
Past graduation, you’re looks are 100% not how rankings are determined. They are determined by your behavior/attitude and job performance. Can bring attractive provide an unconscious bias on either of these? Yes, but it isn’t the only determining factor. So maybe y’all should grow up and begin ranking them how a professional environment would.
