informal
by: ??how does fall informal work if they’re switching to winter formal?? are a lot of sororities going to be doing informal since the switch??

The sororities are screwed! They won't have the option of "just deciding" to do informal, or to take as many as they want in order to fill their houses. They will still have to abide by total, and only those who fall below total will be able to recruit in the fall. Moving formal recruitment from fall to winter was the most asinine, ill-conceived decision. Formal recruitment in a Michigan winter will create a hardship on chapters and PNMs. Moving formal recruitment to winter will also allow the time for even more tent talk during the fall semester which in turn can negatively impact weaker recruiting chapters. The housing situation in Ann Arbor is ridiculous and expensive. This decision is putting the livelihood of Michigan's Greek organizations and their members in a precarious position when sororities (and fraternities) are trying to fill houses and students are having to sign leases a year in advance to get housing. NPC does NOT recommend second semester recruitment, and Michigan's Panhellenic and IFC should be fighting this decision with their national organizations leading the charge.

since it will only be sophomores, it will be similar to our previous winter rush, so I don't think the #s will be a problem. But, it will be challenging to fill the houses who will be primarily juniors living in the houses going forward. That's going to be a little crazy, right?

That’s the point. The university is trying to phase out Greek life little by little, making it more and more difficult to be a member of the Greek community, so as to not cause a national uproar by not outright abolishing it. but ultimately this will weaken fraternities and sororities until they barely exist. We need to fight this now while we’re all together
