should we really "trust the process"

by:

PNMS - should we really trust the process for sororities? should we really believe that we will end up in the sorority we are supposed to be in? or did we just have one bad conversation with one girl out of 200+ in a specific sorority? maybe we had something in our teeth on accident? I still don't know if we should trust a process that seems so discouraging yet exciting.

You're literally doing the exact same thing to the houses that you have left. Judging them on a superficial conversation? Those girls could be the best girls you ever meet. You're being just as bad as the girls in sororities who you claim unfairly judge you.

It is so different though, you could be the most passionate girl person in the room for a sororities philanthropy but some may still drop you and some may not because you never know what houses are looking for. Some may want you to talk about cheese bread and yoga, while some may want you to talk about philanthropy. Some also may just drop you right away because your makeup isn't done well enough or their Instagram doesn't have enough followers. If we are upset because we had our best conversation in a house that dropped us, and an awkward conversation in a house that kept us, thats not doing the same thing at all.

Dropping is no biggie. Don't listen to all these mid and low tier houses spamming greekrank -- they're just desperate for new babies $$$$.

Drop, focus on school, make some friends, come back next fall focused on a specific house. So many girls rush as sophomores.

Houses here are large and diverse and chances are the best option you will ever have will come to you as a 1st year rather than 2nd year. I was a 2nd year transfer and did fine but based on the people I went through with I was an exception. If you want to spend the year meeting people and roll the dice as a 2nd year then thats ok but know if a house cut you this year they will cut you next year absent some miracle. The other thing to consider is that 1st year being greek is great vs being non greek as you meet so many more people and have some great activities. I truly felt strange as a 2nd year in a class of mainly 1st years but I was lucky with my big who was a junior. As you become a junior or senior the greek thing isn't at all important to most people. Think hard about it before dropping and talk to as many people as you can. Good luck.

Do not trust ANY process. Do your own thinking. The greek system runs on huge amts of $$$$. The emotions fueling the system are fear and greed. Your best house option will be the first year you rush. Rushing as a sophomore is doable but rough and honestly not fun. You will get a bid so long as you play the game and maximize your options. The best thing is that you don't have to accept your bid. So, there is no real cost to playing the game until the end. Just don't sign anything and then you can rush again next year. But don't expect the house that gave you the bid that you turned down to offer another bid as that just won't happen.
