Glad you're interested in joining a sorority at Rockhurst next year. The best thing for you to do is just meet the women from the different sororities. Each sorority has strengths and weaknesses, but you will be happiest if you join the sorority because YOU like the women in it, not because SOMEONE ELSE gives you a list of "top ranked" sororities/fraternities. In college, you'll learn a lot about yourself and have the chance to meet a lot of people. Don't worry so much about the stereotypes are or who is considered the "top." It's all in the eye of the beholder. High school is filled with popular vs. not popular mentalities...college is different. The Rockhurst Greek community is pretty united; the fraternities/sororities mix with each other all the time, so keep an open mind and make lots of friends.

In all honesty, it doesn't really matter. In any of the sororities you will find great girls that you can spend your four years with. Each are different and each have different things to offer for your personality. So figure out which one you feel most comfortable in, the place you can be yourself, and somewhere you think you won't absolutely hate being in. Let's be honest, you go to Rockhurst. You will still be friends with everyone and being in a sorority doesn't change that. It merely gives you more opportunities for friendship with different people and bonds of sisterhood. It doesn't mean you are signing your four years to be a certain type of person or to only hang out with those people.

Please refrain from referring to your joke of a sorority, Theta Phi Alpha??? as "Theta." That nickname is reserved for Kappa Alpha Theta - a large, well-respected sorority. Much like Zeta & Gamma Phi, the REAL THETA has been around for ever and has over 150 chapters. As a real Theta at a nearby Kansas University, I'm offended. Your "Theta whatever" is a complete non-factor.

it's not people from theta phi that call it theta, it's people that don't know. I'm from a different school's chapter and this is EXTREMELY offensive to consider a whole organization as lesser solely based off of a nickname between sharing one greek letter. people can nickname things whatever the hell they want, doesn't mean everyone's always right. grow up.

hey guess what? You seem like you store a lot of your self esteem in your house— which is great! but don’t come here and berate someone asking an honest question!

Chill, Sweetie. Theta Phi Alpha has been around since 1912 and is hardly a “joke.” The newest sorority at the school
I graduated from (lo, these many years ago) is your Kappa Alpha Theta, and they’re struggling a lot more more than they should be Each campus is unique and, as another poster correctly said, each campus can give groups whatever the hell nicknames they want. Chi Omega and Alpha Chi Omega have lived side by side on various campuses for many years without problems and in that situation are known as “ChiO” and “Alpha Chi” because the latter’s other nickname - “ A Chi O” - would be too confusing. On campuses where there is no ChiO house, however, “A Chi O”, is used with no problems. Your Theta is big nationally, while Theta Phi Alpha has a smaller number of chapters tends to be at large universities with a large Greek presence or at smaller schools like Rockhurst and, especially, at small or medium-sized Catholic colleges in line with their origins. Each of our sororities fills a specific role on each campus and as long as the girls like one another and the sisterhood is strong, no house is a “joke.” I suggest you look again at what you wrote and perhaps back off from being so judgmental...

Everyone needs to stop kidding around and ranking them based on bias. Outside looking in it would be:
1) ZTA 2)ASA 3)GPhi 4)Theta Phi
1)Pike 2)SAE 3) ADG

But obviously each person still has their own beliefs.
