legacies
by: Honesty
This might be a little harsh but it needs to be said. This is advice coming from someone who wants whats best for everyone. So while sororities have different policies on taking legacies, generally they end up having to take some percentage.
Legacies: please, if you know that the only reason a sorority is taking you is because you’re a legacy, do yourself AND them a favor and don’t do it!! People that do this end up in a house where they feel unwanted and are often left as outcasts. GO WHERE YOU WILL BE HAPPY WITH YOUR SISTERS!! If you are a legacy and at the same time would have fit in with the house regardless, then go for it!! But if not, everyone in greeklife has seen what happens with friend groups when legacies go somewhere they wouldn’t be normally

Legacies usually are required to be kept a certain amount of rounds. It is different for each sorority but each has a national legacy policy that must be followed. For most it is just at least until round 2 some in cases it’s round 3. Most groups also are required to call the person you are the legacy of if they plan to drop you for any reason.
My chapter generally doesn’t drop a legacy at all unless she’s SUPER weird or rude or is a serious grade or reputation risk. Call me sappy and sentimental, but there’s something nice about being a part of something your mom/sister/grandma was a part of.
