how competitive is sorority rush?

I'm in alpha phi and love it! I liked tri delt and alpha phi.

I think the 3 best houses are alpha phi, tri delt and theta.

KD I dont understand why its considered part of the top 4?

Agree tri delt has prettiest girls, then theta, alpha phi mix of pretty, cut, hot, cool. I think a mix of the 3.

I think a lot of girls go KD who dont get a bid from tri delt or theta. The 3 hardest bids to get are tri delt, theta and alpha phi. When your in the dorms and go through rush.

On the tv show siesta key, juliette and hannah are tri delts from Florida State and I can see the Maryland tri delts fitting in at Florida State. My best friend is a Tri Delt at University of Virginia - one of the top 3 sororities there. I think same type of girls.

I think Texas the most intense! BUT, at every school you have 1400 to 1000 or more girls going for 140 spots at the top houses. When your on rush day 1, it's a lot of girls!!! You see tears on the cut days. In the dorms.

When I went through rush

I thought the sorority descriptions were right.

Tri Delt, Theta and KD as top 3 for picking. I think tri delt and theta compete. KD I dont see as the same. On Greek Rank it considered the same and I dont see why? No one picks KD over tri delt or theta as first choice. The girls in tri delt and theta are very pretty, pretty and hot girls and kd are more cute.

A O Pi which has 1 or 2 hot girls and you wonder why they are in that house versus the 4 above. Cool chill smaller house versus hot.

Some fraternities are open. Some fraternities only hang out with certain sororities.

My friends and I from home at different schools... rush was the same. Girls who didnt get the house they wanted, a bunch transferred. It can get "traumatic" for girls who feel rejected. Maybe you'll see 6 girls who you wonder how they got a bid overall? But I wouldnt say its 20 girls in a house that dont look like they fit in.

My sister goes to Cornell. There its core 4 and the rest. She is in a core four and found rush very competitive for those spots. We think the top houses, its tougher to get a bid. Overall if your pretty, can talk/hold a real conversation, fun/drink/party, dress cute/look cute...pretty much a cool girl who was cool in high school and dated the cute hot guys, you'll do fine in rush at any college. Some girls may think they are cool in their small high school and not so much compared to other girls at other schools in a more competitive environment of more girls to pick from and some girls blossom in college and become the HOT girls.

At Maryland if your preffing the top 4, you fit in. Especially tri delt and theta and alpha phi. If you get dropped by preff night by 3 or 4 of the 4, you wont get a bid.

We are curious where you ended up? Why would you transfer to U of M if you dont like the Greek system? Think the people are ehhh? In in tri delt and very happy!!! I visited my other friends - in top tier houses at what you deem to be...THE HOT GIRLS. All 5 of us agree our sororities have similar girls. I'm proud to be a terp and a tri delt terp!!! I think I would have done just as well at my friends schools. During rush I was drawn to girls who chose tri delt, theta and alpha phi and kd. We were all friends looking at the same houses. Most of my friends are in tri delt with me, 2 went theta and 1 went alpha phi and we are all happy!

Advice is to dress cute, be a fun person to talk too during rush, bond with your fellow rushers and see if your clicking with girls drawn to the same tier as you? If you should be in AXO and tried to hard to be in a different sorority you probably wont fit in. We were drawn during rush to each other and the same houses. It was natural versus forced. When you asked, is it competitive to get a bid? Why wouldnt it be? Out of 4 top tier - 2 top tier should go your way if you are so focused on top tier bid. If 2 out of 4 are not going your way, it's not going well. You are not clicking in those houses. Best to go where you click. You hang out in tiers at any school. It's just the way the Greek system is set up. But high school was similar.

My friends at other rush said the same. Some girls seem pretty or cute, why didnt they get a bid to a top house? Personality, style, confidence, niceness, fun, enthusiasm. Some girls at some schools, hire coaches? You shouldn't need to do that!! You should see where you naturally fit in, thats where you belong.

When I went through rush it was kd, theta and tri delt as top 3. Just go through rush, be yourself and see where you fit in. That's what I did. I'm happy, like my friends. But its just 1 part of college. The bars are mixed. Focus on school and enjoying it. The girls who focus too much on what sorority they are in??? As in this post! Have fun!!! Why join a social club you think the top girls suck? Makes no sense. Lots of clubs to join on campus.

The top 3 sororities are theta, kd and tri delt. They all seem similar! As far as is it hard to get a bid??? LMAO!!! Why pay for a college, a sorority on top of that, if you have those feelings? Why not pay for a college your excited to go too. It's the degree, not what sorority you are in that matters!

Agree, KD is more popular than alpha phi...just a fact.

how hard is it without any connections? I’m transferring from an SEC school so I would imagine it’s not as tough.

When I went through rush, the top 3 were tri delt, theta and kd. Alpha Phi was considered top too. If your into tiers. Did someone erase a post yesterday? I thought she explained it well.

When you go through rush, certain girl, usually very pretty, good looking, very cute, look cute girls.... they sail through rush and those top 4 want them. They seem to be fine through rush til they have to choose the preference night . They seem to choose between those 4. I saw a lot of tri delt/theta, tri delt/kd, tridelt/alpha phi.... my roommate was part of that group. They were all confident during rush. Not snobby confident just confident. I loved my roommate and we are still friends. I was interested in other houses.

The girls crying got cut from houses they wanted. It could have been top tier or another tier, tears happen during rush week.

My roommate had sailed through rush and had to pick from top 4 to top 2. She was most drawn to 2 out of the 4 but liked all 4.

As for is it easy to get a bid from a top tier house? I think if your Hot/very pretty, well dressed with a good fun personality and a gpa of a 3.0 or better - you should! You'll see when you rush. I dont think 1 house is harder per say than another in the top 3/4? I think if you really fit in the top tier - you'll click with all 4 and choose.

Most girls are themselves and go through rush and see where they naturally click??? If you dont naturally click with a group of girls, it's a big commitment.

I think when you rush, if you have your eye on a top tier house, see how you click. If your sailing through and bid night... are choosing and have to cut 1 or 2 houses, your in the right mix. If your preffing 1 top tier... it's a reach. The girls in the houses want a click for them. You party together as a house.

It's best to go through rush and see where you naturally click? 3 or 4 sororities ...form groups with other fraternities and tend to party in those groups. Athletes hang with certain houses but hang at the bars so it's up to you....
Everyone at the bars is chill and it's fun and open. It's not broken up by sorority. I think we all have fun together.

If your a legacy... if you have the grades step 1 but easier. Other than that, if you have a friend who helps you, that could help. BUT a whole sorority has to pick you. You'll see when you go through rush, certain girls look like they fit in certain houses. You see during rush in your rush group, how girls do in each house. Everyone chats after. Everyone looks around and everyone knows who is into what houses, who gets cut. Not in a mean way...its girls...its a chatty process. You usually have a few friends in your rush group, your roommate or family to talk things with. Girls on your dorm floor. Dorm is less about what sorority your in and more about having fun on your floor/dorm. More wknds you hang in your sorority until you move into your sorority house sophomore/junior year. At the bars, we all hang. Rush is important to find the right fit. But your freshman or sophomore dorm also another social place to make friends, your classes/major etc.

She should be more excited to go and rush. Its a way to make friends versus a whose hot? All the girls I know went through rush to find friends versus do others see them as hot/cool??? The girls in tri delt and theta and kd that I know are all nice. Some very pretty/hot ones but the girls dont seem focused on being hot, just chill and having fun with their friends. Maryland is to me more about having a good time versus whose hot. There are hot people, but they dont act like it's a big deal or they are better than others??? I think this post is??? Not very maryland. Maybe she calmed down a bit or didnt rush.

Yeah! Finally!!! Maryland is pretty chill!!! Hot people go to school here BUT it's not focused on whose hot. Maryland is about school - 1 and having a good time. If your focused on a top tier or particular house, you'll see when you go through rush how it goes. I agree with the posts, for some girls all the top tiers want them. The top tiers attract a group of girls and I think the kd, theta and tri delts all look similar... I see pretty brunettes in tri delt so not all blonde. Those 3 houses have a large amount of very good looking girls. If your pretty with a personality you have a good shot! It's also personality and the girl who posted this??? Hundreds of girls go through rush and you click with the people your comfortable with. I dont think a tri delt or kd looks down on someone in a different house. We all go to maryland and are in the greek system together. In classes together. Maybe this girl just visited, but maryland is chill!!!
