re rushing as a 2nd year

by: curious

i joined a sorority for a few weeks fall quarter last year, then ended up dropping (before initiation). im considering re rushing as a sophomore. is it basically impossible to get into a different house? What are my chances / will sororities hold it against me? is it even worth it to go through the process again?

It is definitely possible to rerush and get a different house. It really comes down to why you dropped the sorority last year. if it is for shallow reasons, like it wasn't "top" enough, sororities will look down upon that. if it was for more legitimate reasons, like finances or something, then just communicate that to the girls you talk to during rush and you'll be fine!

Maybe, but if it was because of finances then I wouldn’t. All sororities are going to be fairly expensive to join. Beyond your dues, there’s initiation fees, all kinds of expenses associated with rush, but we’re just speculating.

I know like 4 girls who did this in the past few years - two went from middle houses to top houses, one went from bottom to upper-mid house, and one went from bottom house to middle house. In every circumstance they did better. I say go for it!! (but maybe i only know about the ones who did better bc the girls who do worse drop again)

Maybe she was already in a top house and didn’t fit in. In any case, she should probably try again with a more educated perspective
