what i wish i knew during rush
by: Real talk
This answers a lot of questions and will help guide you as you get to know the different sororities this fall before rushing in the spring. (Some ppl will inevitably say that this is wrong, or that pnms should decide for themselves. But just get over it, I would have wanted this when I rushed.)
Relevant sororities: kappa sk aphi chi o aephi adpi pi phi.
If you want any sort of social life: kappa, aphi, sk, aephi
If your focus is on philanthropy and career: adpi
If you want strong sisterhood: aephi, adpi, piphi
If sisterhood doesn’t matter to you at all: kappa, chi o
If you are grungy and/or alt and/or wear combat boots: chi o
If you are a social justice warrior: chi o/ adpi
Specific but weirdly accurate:
If you are genuinely kind but are generally quiet: pi phi
If you make a point to get to know all of your teachers each semester: adpi
If you regularly use the double heart emoji and call your friends “babes”: SK
If you spend a while editing a pic of you wearing skinny sunglasses and casually holding a $700 purse to post to insta: kappa
If you are from Miami: kappa
If you study (like a lot): adpi
If you want tables when you go out: kappa, aephi
If you want a good big/little/ close fam: aephi, aphi, chi o
If you want the best frats to want to hang out with you: aphi
If you’re a social media intern for a small start up: aphi
However, let’s face it, you don’t join a sorority to gain a few study buddies or be philanthropic, you can do those things more meaningfully through a million other orgs on campus. You join a sorority to find friends, to socialize, and to meet new people with similar interests. Keep that in mind when picking your sorority. You can’t go wrong with any one of them

Everyone's entitled to their own opinions, but this post misses a few big points:
All sororities are relevant. All chapters have sisters that are leaders on campus and involved. Phi Sig had a SGA president within the past 2 years, and contrary to popular notion, Kappa has a ton of student athletes. But if you're going to include/exclude sororities from relevancy, how in the world did you pick Pi Phi? They and SDT are probably the two least-talked about chapters on campus, for better or for worse.
Chi O has a huge divide in sisterhood right now between girls who are the stereotype you mentioned, with the nose rings and flannels, and girls who are now the new insta baddies in their two newest PCs.
Not tempted to touch that APhi mess with a 10-foot stick, but let's just say a PNM shouldn't be worried about what frats they're dealing with, and APhi is no longer known for the best PR.

100%. I'd love to know what makes Pi Phi more relevant than other chapters. Also many people still haven't gotten over the APhi thing, so idk why OP's trying to bury it.
