Kappa Alpha Theta - ΚΑΘ Sorority Ratings at GWU

Literally how many times will they pay to have accurate ranks removed? They're not mean or calling anyone out by name it's just not blowing smoke up Theta's ass, so they freak out and pay to have it removed. $10 says this gets removed within the next week - that's probably how much they spend to get each one removed.

Theta tries extremely hard to push back against everything the Greek community knows them to be. They freak out any time someone calls them "the new sorority" even though they've literally only been on this campus 2 semesters and haven't been through a formal recruitment. There's nothing inherently wrong with being new, and it can explain a lot of their behavior, because they're still trying to figure out what being greek on this campus really means. Prime example: the social media thing. They eventually took down those controversial posts because they realized it was a mistake, but learning how to run a chapter instagram is a new skill and they can blame their ignorance on being new at this. They also run around saying "we're not like other girls" rather than creating a unique identity, which is a rookie move, especially considering they're extremely basic. maybe with their new social media chair things will get better.

Theta no one cares that your chapter is the newest on campus, they care that you use it as an excuse for being annoying and having low retention. Saying you’ll be mid-tier once another chapter colonizes shows you have no desire to actually improve yourselves and is pathetic since there’s very little likelihood another sorority will colonize for years with how recruitment numbers keep dropping. Maybe learn to actually work on your chapter instead of just making excuses.

Messed up big time with their colonization. They have some cute girls & have had a few mixers, but if they want their image on campus/for PNMs to be what they put out on social media, they're going to have a tough time getting rid of their "reject" label. Several members on their chapter instagram have openly admitted to being dropped during recruitment and COB. They also said they wanted to recruit to chapter total and took like 80 girls. Doesn't really paint their chapter in a positive light.

Their recruitment video looks like it was shot through a pinhole camera and is just 3 minutes of the same 10 girls awkwardly hugging and eating. I get recruitment videos are staged but at least try to pretend you like being around one another?

Largest sorority on campus so obviously girls aren’t going to be super close and their sisterhood is kind of wack. I know a lot of girls in this chapter who are really unhappy and don’t have many friends in it. They use the same 5 girls on their recruitment videos and Instagram for a reason. Also girls are as boring as a slice of wonder bread

It'll taken few rounds for Theta to get their "thing" and attract similar girls. They have some involved and cool girls but a lot of weird randos too it seems to me. A lot of NMs dropped Theta a lot during recruitment. Next recruitment maybe they'll do better but for now they're unorganized and there's a lot of drama.

So Theta took 88 girls with their first PC. If they only had 2 seniors graduate, and rumored 6/7 girls dropped or transferred, that puts them at around 80 girls at the start of this year. Judging by photos on their social media, they took 8 new members through COB. Total was set at 116 for the semester. Keep in mind, they're not under any obligation by GW Panhel to reach total, because some other chapters also aren't at total and have elected not to COB. Did 6/7 girls drop? Did they not extend bids to everyone who came to their events? None of us can know unless we're in Theta. However, this gets tricky with formal recruitment in the spring. RFM is based on historical return rates over the past four years, meaning the number each chapter is allowed to invite back each night is the average of their return rates for four years. Theta does not have any return rates, so they will have to invite back the maximum number of girls each night, which excludes grade risks but not much else. Quota in formal recruitment is based off of the number of PNMs attending prefs divided by the number of houses. If Theta's total is now at 88 and they don't extend any more bids this semester, they will need to extend far more bids than the other chapters to reach total. Between this and essentially needing to invite every PNM back each round, the next recruitment does not look bright for Theta.

They're new, need to work their way up. I feel like recruitment is going to be hard for them since they got a lot of rejects this year

Spent my freshman year friends with a now theta. Genuinely unimpressed and frightened. Recruitment was uncomfortable, not enjoyable, tedious and nauseating.
