should i rush in third year

by:

hey guys plz don’t throw eggs at me i found out about this website from one of my sorority friends and i just have a genuine question. I really like the vibe of the Greek system and wanted to join a sorority next year but the problem is I will be in my third year and I don’t know if it going to work out because there will be a lot of first and second years, so I feel too old. And if I get a bid, I will be on pledge class with first and second years as well, so I was wondering how common it is to join a sorority in third year. Should I go for it? Thanks :)))

Hey girl! It’s true that most people rushing are from first year or second year, but there’s still a lot of girls and guys who rush when they’re much older! Most of the Beta Theta pie pledge class isn’t first years, some of those dudes are almost graduating, most are 19-20. There’s guys in Sig that are like almost 30. Lots of goth years in the strats and frats. Some pledges I know are in their fourth year and just wanted to give it a go! I didn’t rush till spring of my first year because I honestly wasn’t really ready to immediately get in the sorority during my first month of my first year of university. I wanted to settle in first and explore my own major, clubs, and have a regular first term experience that wasn’t really focussed on rushing, or extra commitments. Age really doesn’t matter that much with sororities and fraternities, you’re all a pledge class and you’re all there for each other! I don’t think anyone in my sorority really focusses on anyone’s ages and it never really becomes a topic in new member groups. You’re good to go! I promise nobody really cares unless you’re like a 25 year old!

I'm in a sorority and our pc this year was predominantly 2nd and 3rd years as that just seems to be more of who we recruit. Honestly, I wouldn't worry about the age thing one bit. Most of the time, I completely forget the age of the others in my sorority/ it doesn't even matter. Give it a chance and join wherever makes it feel like you can be loved and appreciated for you :)

1. You will be egged
2. Real talk, don’t join the Greek system, you’re far better off not tainting your college experience joining an organization. My biggest regret was Greek life, it is the most toxic please ever. If you miss highschool, go head. Otherwise just leave it hun!
