2025 Fraternity ranking

Big Four (DKE, Beta, Phi Delt, Phi Gam):
Top tier across reputation, money, and connections. Most guys come from wealthy Charlotte/Triangle high schools, paying up to $10k a semester. DKE and Beta throw often and hard. Phi Delt and Phi Gam are quieter socially but still powerhouses. Houses are huge — DKE lacks a yard but their basement makes up for it. Pledging is notoriously brutal, especially at DKE and Beta (rumors fly every year). Phi Delt just got off a multi-year suspension. Alumni network is stacked. Hard to get a bid unless you already know people. Fall rush only.
Chi Psi:
Massive house — biggest property on campus after Carolina Inn. They don’t throw often, but when they do, it’s upscale and packed. Heavy on **cktails, and the “husband material” vibe. Sorority connections are solid. Pledging is easier than most (no basement), but different. Huge alumni network and ties to Ghimghoul. Their annual Moat party is arguably the best single event at UNC. Both fall and spring rush — spring rush is their standout.
Sig Chi / Sig Nu / Chi Phi

Sig Chi and SNU are very similar. Both on BFC and attract large freshman crowd for events. Their events are pretty good and often. Pledging is rough, and will involve pledges getting physically harmed. Sig Chi has the shortest pledging of any frat, but arguably the hardest. Sig Nu brothers notoriously don't get along and a fair amount of SNU pledges had to see dentists after the last day of pledging. There was also an incident this past semester where a brother in Sig Nu had punched a girl in Zeta at one of their events (bailed out by IFC connections). All three only do fall rush/pledging. Beyond pledging, both frats have great signature events and good sorority connections. Chi Phi is in the same group as SNU and Sig Chi but very different. Smaller house next to Phi Delt with huge yard. Great brotherhood and they are the nicest of the three. Don't throw often but have great tailgates and mix with the same sororites as Snu and Sig Chi. Sororites love Chi Phi.

Aepi / Pikapp / Pika

Aepi is the Jewish frat on campus but not only jewish and also on BFC. They weren't very good until this past year when they had two good PCs. One of the more responsible fraternities, they rarely get in trouble. Had fun football tailgates. Small house thats in shambles but great location. Pikapp has a big house right in the middle of the sorority houses but far from other frats. They are known for signature events but mostly wine Wednesdays. Cool backyard. Older brothers are notoriously uninvolved. Smart and have Moreheads/connections. Brotherhood tanked, best sorority connections in the group. Pika was much better 23-24 but have fallen heavily due to a year of bad classes (spring class was a joke). On Big frat court and have a cool front yard. They are in a good location. Don't know much about them except they don't mix much with sororities. All three have fall/spring rush.

ATO (RIP)

Zete / KSig / SAE:
Zete leads LFC with solid turnout and strong alumni ties. Had a good fall class but weaker spring rush. Pledging’s tough but the brotherhood is tight. Kappa Sig is similar but smaller, throws less, though their Halloween party was solid. Both rush fall and spring.
SAE is the lowest-ranked BFC frat, mainly due to past scandals and the meaning behind their letters. Girls tend to avoid, but not bad. Pledging is easy just long.
