Thinking about picking up the saxophone

Pretty much title. Wanna get into the sax but don't know if its too late or even worth it. If you play sax comment if its worth it or is it too late in the game to learn it any how. Also is it expensive and requiring as much time as something like the piano or guitar. Can you learn on your own with books/internet or are face to face lessons pretty much mandatory? Any input helps. Thanks

I would do it but as long as you have a good spot to practice since its a little loud so definitely dont do it if youve got roommates or live in a dorm sorta place
