new sorority bids?
by: CatI've been hearing mixed things about the new sorority. From what I've heard you have to go through recruitment and then if you don't like the rest of your options (aka: you don't get the top ones) you can drop out of it and then join alpha xi delta still, right? Can someone confirm this??

Uhm you're lying to yourself if you go through recruitment with an "open mind". TCNJ's recruitment is backwards. The freshmen have been around for an entire semester to know about reps, meet sisters, know who parties with who, etc and they know what organization they want to be in. Most girls go through recruitment with "top choices" but ultimately, many are disappointed unless you have an in somewhere and so to speak "network" with girls. That being said, girls will often accept bids from organizations that they did not previously consider just to be a part of greek life. For most, this works out and they're happy where they end up. But thinking that everyone goes through recruitment with an open mind is unrealistic for TCNJ.

Alpha Xi Delta will be in the first round of recruitment, "round robin" that is the round when you meet every sorority. They will then be dropping out of the rounds. After "round robin" (and each round after) PNMs will have the opportunity to rank the 8 existing sororities through the mutual selection process. If a PNM decides to drop out of recruitment at any point they can then go to Alpha Xi Delta's "interest sessions" and learn more about them and try to get a bid there but there is no guarantee of receiving a bid from Alpha Xi Delta. It is encouraged that anyone interested in joining a sorority to not drop out of recruitment just to join Alpha Xi Delta but rather stick through the process and learn about each sorority to try to find the best fit for you.
