Theta Best Case Scenario

by: Honest

This might be the best thing to happen to theta. If they go underground and operate without nationals oversight, they can recruit the best girls in the fall (before spring rush), throw parties with literally no rules, become a social organization with no dumb chapter requirements, and become even more of a powerhouse. We all know sororities are thinly veiled social organizations parading around as philanthropic sisterhoods. The other "top" houses better watch out if they think Theta is disappearing or going down without a fight. This is honestly a level up.

I do wonder if “social clubs” will become the thing in the future. Rho at UT comes to mind. No oversight from “woke” nationals, whether that’s good or bad depends on the group. Some oversight can be helpful. Heard rho was applying to reaffiliate with sae, not sure if that is true.

With enough money and connections, this could be the way of the future for the people that just want to join these orgs for social reasons. We know most people aren't rushing for national alumni connections or philanthropy opportunities anymore

Let's dedicate our energy to these 3 projects this summer.

1. Establish Fall semester weekly sorority house hosted mixers. 💑
2. Renovate the Sigma Chi chapter house temporary facade. 🏛
3. Financially rescue the Fijis from insolvency. 💲

Call, e-mail, text, IM or snap your sorority social, officer chairs with your excitement over these projects. 🗣

Let's get mov'n ! 🚀

luckily they didn't get a death sentence by nationals (4y+). If they did, no chance of coming back as strong

So much wrong with this. First of all: Sororities aren't thinly veiled social organizations, they ARE social organizations. They have ALWAYS been social organizations based on close friendships (sisterhood) and membership for life, founded as such, and don't say different. Philanthropy is a worthy side gig, along with leadership, campus involvement, and networking opportunities, but none of that stuff means a thing without the friendships and fun events. That's why they have houses to live together and be together. A sorority is a home away from home. Second: Membership in a national sorority means something and is a huge part of the appeal. You can slap some letters together and recruit members all you want to throw parties, but that's not really what girls need or want. They go to frats for that for free. There would be no recognition, no prestige, no nice house, no sorority lifestyle, and parents certainly wouldn't pay for it like they do for sorority membership. Any girl who 'joined' one in fall would be blacklisted from all the legitimate sororities when they change their minds and want a real sorority.

They don't need a club. They are already friends and can do what they want and go to frat parties or wherever together.

Theta girls are cool and fun. They have a big name for themselves and there presence on campus will stay strong. If they found a way to create a social club in the meantime. Theta could remain the same when they return to campus

Theta will have to go through serious rebuilding. The whole point of kicking them off campus is to graduate the problem girls. It is absolutely amazing, and a tribute to their alumnae clout, that they will only be off 2 years and not 4 or 5. Nationals might allow anyone who's left at school to help reactivate the chapter or they might call them alums and get them out of the way too for a completely clean start. Their nationals are pi$$ed and embarrassed and so are the Texas alums and Theta has recently lost their Clemson and Ole Miss chapters and another one in LA so things are serious with the leadership's intentions. There is no way they will remain the same when they return.

Sorry … losing 2 pledge classes is a death sentence.

And it’s too bad they didn’t deactivate the problem members long ago. They were already on in trouble with nationals … Theta really screwed up. I’m sorry for the last pledge class … not their fault.

Theta Nationals will probably make ALL the members of the chapter go into alumni status, then have the recruitment when they return be done like a colonization (i.e., ground up), taking girls who are at various years (freshmen, sophomore, some juniors, even some seniors) so the "new chapter" will not all graduate at the same time.

Who were the problem girls?

If there is too much of an effort by the Thetas still left on campus to keep acting like an "underground sorority" you might see Theta nationals go beyond the two year period so that all of the current girls graduate or transfer and not be a distraction from the reorganized chapter.

Tri Delt at Penn State got its charter pulled in 2009 but immediately re-formed as an underground group called Trilogy. They call themselves a service org to give themselves a respectable front, but they still use the DDD ritual to initiate their members. Trilogy girls were present at the party where Tim Piazza (the Beta pledge) died five years ago.

DDD national has said they have no interest in returning to Penn State as long as Trilogy is allowed to remain active.

Anyone that pledges or intimates into any theta club isn’t a real theta and won’t be recognized by nationals. If nationals finds out they are taking girls into a club and missing theta rituals they will never be back
