If you have friends in the house you can probably stay as low at 3.1-3.2 depending on the house. The rushing GPA is lower now so some of the top houses that have poor grades could even except a 2.5 and up. If you have no friends I would keep it as high as possible (3.5+) so people are more willing to risk it because you can bring the GPA up.

A second round sophomore rushee has little or no chance getting a bid from 1-6. They only offer 1-2 bids to sophomores, mostly transfers from elite universities. Sorority 7 will probably cut you for being a second rounder, so 8 is your best option.
