No house will be added until every house is meeting and exceeding Quota which only happens when people genuinely consider rushing every house at SMU (not just “top tier”). While there is a formal presentation process it most likely will be bringing back ADPi as they have a house, have a huge Dallas alumnae chapter, and have Kathy Bates as a famous SMU alumnae. Other possible presentation options would be Zeta, they also have a house on campus, or bring in a new chapter like Alpha Phi (good Texas present, and large California presence which would align with the increase of California students attending SMU). However this has been discussed for years but most likely won’t happen anytime in the near future.

I've also heard that pan won't allow another house as long as everyone (mostly on here and tent talk and alums) continues to badmouth some of our houses. Mostly I hear about the "desirable" six and the "undesirable" two. We need to clean up this kind of behavior. All our houses are good and they all are desirable. Find the one that fits you and let others do the same - without comment.

SMU, like any college campus, will only add a house when quota is met by every house for at least a few years AND when new member classes start getting too large across the board. As long as pnm's think that they are too good for any of our outstanding houses then sorority life here is not going to grow. ADPi and Zeta were here and had to close because no one wanted to join those chapters. Kathy Bates oh yeah, that would get them running home LMAO

Not anytime soon. Expansion is considered when the pledge classes become so large that chapters are outgrowing their houses. For that to happen, a lot more girls need to go through rush & FINISH rush by accepting a bid.

It also helps if all chapters are consistently making quota or else you have a similar situation to Ole Miss (similar brutal rush & hyper competitive Greek system) where they recently added two chapters only to have their always weak chapter (Theta) close this year. Adding new chapters in an unbalanced system only hurts the weak chapter and then you don’t end up having any more chapters on campus and don’t alleviate overcrowding.

Go Greek is correct. It's all about the numbers. If new chapters only got added on campuses where all the houses are top tier and every house made quota then no new chapters would ever open anywhere. Adding a sorority would lower quota by 1/9 which would be good because PCs are way, way too big.
