is it recommended to rush?

I am an incoming freshman and I was thinking about rushing, but the cost of it was holding me back. I was wondering if it is recommended to rush in order to have a social life (like for example at Penn State you kinda have to rush). I love to go out and I want to rush but I'm concerned about the price, the clickiness and whether or not it is something that you have to do in order to have friends.

Lots of people don't rush and still do fine. A lot of people also don't rush freshman year and then decide to sophomore if they feel like they are missing out.
