honest sorority reputations?

I know what each sorority's "rank" is but I want to know what their reputation around campus is.

If you are only interested in reputation, you shouldn't rush. No one wants a wannabe.

Here's a thought: How about actually getting to know some members from a bunch of sororities and figure it out yourself.

Here is a general rank of chapters. Basically, the "top tier" is considered super "hot". They party hard and put out. Moving into tier 2 and "lower" you will find girls of more substance, better sisterhood (cause they pledged to find life long bonds vs status), higher GPAs, less partying vibe, etc. Every chapter has fun. It is just a matter of who you pair with. Tier 1 socials with the "douchey" frat bros that think they are the #hit. As you move "down" in tiers, guys get nicer. IMHO guys in "mid tier" frats are the perfect mix of hot and nice.

1. KD, Kappa, APhi, Pi Phi, Theta
2. Gphi, Zeta, AXiD, DG, DZ
3. AOPI/ SDT, Phi Sig
4. Adpi, Sig kap, DPhiE, TriSig (to come)

Phi Sig to 4. No slash between AOPi and SDT, AOPi way nicer and cooler. Switch ADPi and SigKap bc SigKap has more cuter, diverse and personable girls. Finally, DZ to bottom, but simply because they are mean and nasty and not nice to be around at all. And, yes, goes without saying, broad generalizations. Everybody's got an opinuon.

Super confused. By that description, bottom and lower sound way more desirable. So wouldn't that equate with a higher tier?

If you are a woman evaluating these chapters, yes you would rank them higher. If you are a guy ranking chapters, what they value (looks over everything else and second, how hard you party) are what matters. Smart women don't care what how men rank the chapters. But, on this website, that is how "tiers" are based. Decide for yourself.

The shade thrown at the "top tier" re: focus on partying vs. academics depends on the chapter. While KD, APhi and Kappa are in the very bottom of the academic ranks (#s 13, 15 and 16 out of 17 total), Pi Phi and Theta are #s 2 and 3. So, it would seem that Pi Phi and Theta have found a way to balance it all.

This is the truth! Every chapter is different. Don't let yourself be fooled by ranks. Get to know the women in each chapter and you will find that not all are the same.
