first day of rush

How many girls do sororities cut in the first day? For top tiers, who basically already know their pledge class, do they only invite them back, or do they give some other girls at least a second chance?

The number of girls cut by each sorority varies each day based on all sorts of statistics. If your curious or anxious over it, do a little research on how it works.

Top tiers do not know their entire pledge class before rush starts. Of course, they have an extensive list of girls they do want and girls they don't want, but in reality every single girl they want does not choose them back. also, the week of rush if you seem to fit in and seem right for the sorority, they'll keep you through the rounds. Just be yourself, and it all depends if you like the experience you have at a said house and they like you back.
