is tri sig a npc?
by: ????I had never heard of Tri Sig before coming to Elon. Are they a member of NPC or are they a local that is just here at Elon? I've talked to people at other schools and they have never heard of Tri Sig? Why would anyone join a small local if that is in fact what they are?

our bottom tier is significantly bigger nationally than a lot of our other sororities nationally...and yet they're bottom here. national rep is irrelevant

Good luck using Sigma connections to try and find a job or alum group. Simply doesn't exist in many parts of country. OTOH groups such as Kappa, DG, Zeta, Theta, ChiO, TriDelt have very active chapters all over the country.

The idea of all collegiate women desiring identical Stepford Wife approaches to their lives during and after graduation defies reality. Women come in all sizes, shapes, and colors with differing attitudes, values, standards and characters. They can discuss ideas without being disagreeable. They join NPC sororities without becoming dismissive and hostile towards women from different NPC orgs. Yes, Tri Sigma is a viable, loyal and contributing member of the NPC and no amount of greekrank negativity against her and her members will change that fact.

Just called my mom to discuss this issue of 'national reputation'. She said it was real and really is impt if you want to join a group after college. She also confirmed that Sigma has very little national presence and won't be much help on the job search front. My mom was a DG and she said it really helped with her job search and the local alum group in DC was fantastic when she just got out of college. So, don't listen to those that say national doesn't matter.

if we were at a school where nationally top tier sororities were top tier at elon and you were deciding between that one and sigma, of course you'd choose the first one. the thing is most of our sororities are small nationally and won't help us much in the job world. I for one care a lot more about how my sorority affects me during my 4 years here than after graduation
