sororities dropping girls

by: Green Eyed Girl

I've heard that after your receive your bid YOU can decide to drop from the sorority before being initiated. BUT, I don't understand what it means for a sorority to "drop" you. I heard houses like axid drop girls all the time. How do you get "dropped" from a sorority??? I mean what? Do they just tell you we know we gave you a bid and everything but sorry we don't want you anymore? And your done? After you paid and everything

well you might get a bid but that doesn't mean your a sister/bother of any organization upon accepting the bid. there is a pledge or "new member" process that you have to go through. this process does three things; helps you bond with the organization and you new member class, teaches you the history and information about the organization, and lastly it allows the organization to make sure that you are the kind of person they want in their organization. you have to keep in mind that rush is a very short time period and a lot of people put up a front to get a bid. so houses can drop new members if they feel that they aren't fitting into the vision that they have for the house. as for brothers/sister of an organization, the can always be expelled if they have conduct issues, bad academics, and bad finances.
