sorority comments

What's the general consensus on reputations of sororities at washu? I know I shouldn't base my choice on reps and I don't plan to, but I also know girls can be really fake during rush and don't wanna be fooled. any input would help, thanks! Ps I'm thinking about transferring there, that's why I ask

All of the sororities at WashU are amazing. They all have different types of women so people can give you "stereotypes" but most of the ladies in the chapter won't and don't want to fit in that rigid mold. Where ever you feel "right" is probably where you fit! The rush process is really accurate. Hope everything works/worked out for you!

First, while it's fun to joke about the different stereotypes and important to acknowledge that they come (however distantly) from some truths, these SHOULD NOT play an integral role in making informed choices about the houses at WashU. Get to really know the chapters, and you'll find that these reputations aren't all that relevant. That said, here's the general impression: AEPhis are JAPpy and a bit exclusive, AOII is nice but still getting itself established on campus, Alpha Phis tend to keep to themselves, ChiOs are super outgoing, DGs are the "nice girls", Kappas are blonde and have a superiority complex, and PiPhis love to party.

Which sororities are doing informal recruitment this year?

I'm not sure if any of them are doing them this year. All took quota or quota plus last year, without too many drops.

I think AOII is the only sorority participating in fall rush. All the rest are full and Panhel won't let them take any more members til spring.

every chapter at washu is better than the rest at something unique, which is what i love about our greek system.

aephi is really tight and have a great time without getting in trouble. aoii's the most down-to-earth and friendly. alpha phis are cool, nice, and not afraid to go against the grain. chio is the most fun, hardworking, and competitive. dg's have incredible sisterhood and involvement and are all genuinely sweet girls. kappas are tons of fun and the most social. and the pi phis are gorgeous, dedicated, and crazy fun.

washu greek life is unlike greek life at any other campus because girls are encouraged to think outside the "tier system" and join the chapter that fits them best based on who the members of the sorority are. it makes greek life a lot more chill here and a lot more enjoyable in my opinion!
