If you aren't happy in a house after trying to make it work and you want to drop, would freshman year suck because you aren't in a house? I want to rerush next year but I don't want to ruin this year

everyone's greek experience is different and you gotta do what makes you happy. I will say though that a deep connection to your chapter doesn't always happen right away. I know for me personally it took my entire first semester in the house to feel really connected to it. Also Not being in a house is surprisingly really hard especially seeing all your friends in houses having a lot of fun. But if you are honestly unhappy then do what is best for you! Just know that if you do drop, you will be ineligible for informal recruitment this year and will also have to revisit the house you dropped next year if you decide to rerush during formal. There is also no guarantee that your experience in another house will be better; it's all a big gamble really.

You will still have an awesome year. I did not go through recruitment my freshman year and was geedin it up all around greek row and I had a blast. made some of my best friends. Went through recruitment this year, and was able to join a house some consider 'top'. If you aren't happy, there is a reason for it.

From experience, I listened to everyone and stayed in a house I was unsure about from the beginning. My favorite house dropped me on Pref day so the house I did get a bid to was not my choice at all. It was a great house and I met people that I got along with but there was always something that nagged me but I just decided to stick it out and eventually I was initiated. If you are having doubts up until you are about to be initiated, then I say drop because you can't join any other house after you have gone through that process. It is more hard seeing everyone I know having fun in the Greek community that I know I should be apart of and knowing that I can not ever join a house that was more right for me and that's the worst. So stick it out until right before initiation so you know that you gave it as much time as possible before you decide if its the house for you or not.

I joined a house based on what was the "top house" on my pref day pics. It is not the right fit for me, and I now wish I chose the house I felt comfortable In, not the one that was considered to be the highest of my three choices...
