Dropped by the two houses I wanted during COB

Those that told me to wait and go through COB to get the house I wanted gave me terrible advice!! I was told it was easier to be picked up by KD and AXO when they were doing COB events. Neither house gave me a bid and now I can't join. I am so upset.

Did they tell you to do COB instead of going through formal recruitment? Going COB is never an easier way to get the house you want.

I know KD was doing COB events recently. Not sure about AXO, but I think they may still be having events. Maybe try to go through again?

There are other chapters on campus that are doing COB events. Its not just KD or AXO doing COB

I had the same problem with both of these houses! I was told by AXO mid January that they weren't even doing COB.

I think the top 5 houses are just harder to get into than people realize. I know KD had only a few spots to fill from their COB events. And there were lots of girls trying for those few openings. I don’t know if AXO had any spots open to fill.

I think there are some houses that are still actively doing COB events. Don’t give up if you want to join Greek life!

Kappa Delta only had 5 or 6 spots open after some of their seniors graduated. They aren’t doing any more recruiting. AXO doesn’t have any openings either.

I think Tri Delt is actively recruiting right now and possibly AOPi.

I’m sure those houses are great and all but I really wanted to be in AXO or Kappa Delta.

Can I do formal recruitment as a Sophomore?

You can still go through formal recruitment as a sophomore. Lots of girls do that. COB is a more relaxed process than formal recruitment but if you only have certain houses in mind it can be harder. Lots of houses have limited spaces available in the spring. They only have spaces available if seniors graduate at the end of fall or if someone drops the sorority.

This is why it’s heartbreaking when so many girls drop out of formal recruitment. If they would stay chapters would be able to have bigger new members classes and house total would be bigger.
