cost of being in a sorority
by: HellachillchickHello! I know I have heard a million times that I can not know how much each chapter is until I accept my bid. However, I have to pay for my chapter by myself with no outside help. I'm afraid I'll get in a house that costs to much and I have to drop. Does anyone know which chapters are the most expensive?

Also take into consideration having to buy sorority t shirts and gear, craft supplies and presents for big/little stuff and having money saved in case you get fined. I was in a house that would make you buy the shirts and other stuff like that, make you buy stuff to make presents for big/little/sisterhood stuff. You would get fined if you didn't buy that stuff so you would have to spend money either way. You also would get fined 25-100$ per event or meeting that you missed (depending on the event) if you didn't have an excuse that they accepted. Sometimes there would be 4 events in a weekend so if you missed them all then that would be $400. It adds up quickly. You could also get fined for not getting enough community service hours or not getting good enough grades. It was ridiculous. If you don't pay it then you get sent to collections which ruins your credit history

I had to drop mine because I didn't have any financial help from my family or anyone else. Like I could have scraped by if I only had to pay dues but you forget that there's all these other things that you want/need to buy too. My sorority never made us pay for shirts but, I'd always feel left out when I didn't buy one. Also after I dropped I was glad that I didn't buy too many because I had to get rid of them anyways.
