How do you check out an unrecognized house during formal rush?

You can't. But you can come to informal rush events during the week of formal just don't get caught or else you'll be disqualified from formal rush

Another question: could I just go walk into the houses, or will there be any rush events held by these unrecognised houses off-campus I could go to?

There will be rush events at unrecognized houses just like everyone else only difference is they can't go through formal but honestly top houses don't even recruit kids through formal really anyway

Lost their house and all the members were kicked out by nationals apparently so I'm pretty sure they can't recruit at all. Check out pikes though for the reasons mentioned above.
