Sophomore frat rush

I’m an incoming sophomore transferring from an SEC school (not in frat). I was wondering how UVA rush is for sophomores. Some frats don’t even have IGs, so how do I reach the rush chairs. Any informal rush events in the summer that are recommended? Don’t rlly know too many people at UVA and I’m not from Richmond/anywhere east coast.

Best way to get connected over summer is to go to midsummers and just talk to guys. If they fw you they’ll invite u in the fall and u can meet more brothers. From there u can decide to pledge (if they do fall pledging) or wait until spring for formal rush. Hope all goes well and u find ur brotherhood

Rush is in the Spring. Very few frats do fall rush, and those don't tend to be very 'good'. It's all unofficial. Maybe only a few second or third years will do fall rush, but it's not really recommended.
Most frats do a dirty rush in the fall, where there are just a couple events that you'll get invited to that are specific rush events. The importance of dirty rush depends on the frat, but if you don't go to any dirty rush events you'll end up somewhere.
If you're looking to dirty rush, just befriend dudes in your classes, clubs, and going out, ask what frat they're in, and say that you're interested in rushing and want to get put on their dirty rush list. No matter what they say, you can always come back to them during open house in the spring.

I'm kind of confused - so some frats do fall pledging and some do spring? Is the pledging official or is fall still dirty rush? Is it mainly top frats that do the fall pledging
