UVA sorority dues are so so expensive. My friends at tech pay 1/2 the cost and it’s insane.

Something to be aware of when you look at sororities is cost breakdown which I was way too naive at the outset.

I joined a sorority that was above budget for me, but by the time I learned about the cost breakdown I was too attached.

Frankly what ended up happening was the additional side costs (fundraisers, tshirts big/sis week) + small fines here and there led to a rather “I’m not one of the girls” experience.

I started feeling left out because I couldn’t join in on bougie vacations, buy the cool clothes, and have elaborate costumes for each themed party.

Going into rush, just be smart about cost because the additional $2 grand just to feel “in” is not worth it since even once you join, you won’t feel like you can keep up. \n\n\n\n\n

Also to add the “scholarships” are bs and extremely competitive.

Have you seen VT’s sorority houses? They look like very low budget housing projects

Def something to consider and many girls go inactive by 3rd year.

Agree many go inactive so make sure it’s something you want to do. You don’t need to be in a sorority to get invited to parties
