sorority formal recruitment as a second year
by: greekrankgal21What is formal recruitment like as a second-year? Is it worth it, and do sororities generally tend to look down upon second years rushing?

unless you have friends in sororities already who can pull you in, you're gonna have a rough time. second year quota is very small, so you're going to be at a disadvantage.
source: rushed as a second year, it was awful, my roommate had the same experience. the only people i know who rushed successfully as second years had very close friends in the sororities they joined.

I think you can have a successful rush if you are prepared and part of that preparation is to go through with an open mind, looking for connections and things you like at different houses. I can almost guarantee you it will be tough if you have predetermined expectations or a list of certain houses you're "too good for." The truth is the houses have more in common than not, and just as you hope they will give you a chance. you'll want to be open to them. I know it sounds cheesy, but rush really is one of those experiences that is determined by your attitude. Good luck and have fun! I am cheering you on.
