University of Colorado Boulder - UCB Greek Life Reviews

University of Colorado Boulder has one of the worst Greek Life scenes in all of America. All you have to do is live and breath/show up to one or two rush events and you will get into whatever fraternity or sorority you want. They are straight thirsty.

Everyone talks about the greek life at CU. Honestly it's a total joke. Everyone is a west coast wanna be. Rich kids doing dumb things. No body has an understanding of true greek life. Posers. Parties are dumb and rarely anything special. Bar scene is dead. IFC not being part of the school has a huge affect on the weakness of greek life. In addition many of the fraternities are incredibly informal. Half of these dudes are just kids that drink together, they dont care about the brotherhood only about being cool. rarely any true gentlemen in any of these fraternities. Kinda lame, but nobody really does philanthropy. Also many GDI house parties are equally lit to frat parties. CU deserves better Greek life, make the PAC-12 greek life great again.

Boulders Greek scene tends to fluctuate based on time period. In the 80s and 90s boulder had a more SEC/East Coast Greek scene where it was a big deal. Ever since the pandemic and the school became larger it’s kind of become a smaller aspect of the university. Overall it feels kind of more like a giant friend group than a traditional Greek experience. Frats here are super non-traditional and smaller. While sororities are a bigger deal.

Boulder greek life for frats at least is so messed up. 20 frats but only around 8 are worth joining, about 1400 kids rush per year and only 500 get bids so extremely competitive and exclusive. also brotherhood is weak and parties are average nothing special

I’ve been thinking about how greek life at CU is pretty average honestly. There’s maybe 3-5 houses that have actual frat parties. There are lots of smaller houses that have genuine and friendly brothers, but it’s definitely not the typical frat experience at CU. If you like to rage every weekend, then CU probably isn’t great for that because like I said only a few of the “top houses” have actual ragers, and those houses are pretty selective in the first place. Sure, every house throws parties but you can get the same experience at house parties for the most part. If you’re looking for smaller groups of genuine guys that like to chill, smoke, and do cool stuff outside partying then greek life at CU is definitely for you. It all depends what you want to get out of it.

I’ll put it simply. If you are a guy and want to party, you have to be in a frat or know many people in frats. If you’re a girl and want to party, you’re fine, you’ll get into any party. If you are in frats then the housing situation is very weird, only 3-4 frats have “big” houses, all the sororities own them. If you want schools with many big (as in physical space) frat house. This is not the place. But the parties still pop off.

I was almost a victim of their terrible scheme. After investing a lot of funds they refused and still denied withdrawals. I got pissed and had to my case to "joanhopkins104  gmail. com"  They took up my case after I sent all my proof of transactions and fortunately I got my funds back.

CU has 10 active sororities and around 20 active fraternities. Greek life isn't a large percentage of the student body but that doesn't make it bad. CU has so much more to offer than being in a house. This makes greek life less popular unlike other schools where all there is to do is join a frat/srat and go to the bars. Besides that, It is physically impossible to build new fraternity and sorority houses with the boulder housing laws this makes it hard for more chapters to get on campus because houses aren't available. With that said, greek life has been getting super competitive. Less than 50% of people who rush get bids. It is definitely a different type of vibe than most campuses, but there is a house for everyone. Hazing isn't that bad, usually the bigger houses tend to haze a little more, and many houses have annexes which help to run the social scene. If you want to join greek life, do it. It is freaking awesome. If you don't, you can still have an amazing time at CU.

Boulder greek life is huge and a big part of the social life here. If you are a guy pretty necessary to join a fraternity if you want to party. It's also super competitive rush for fraternities. One of the best greek life systems in the country though.
