Vibes of UM Sororities
by: canesWhat are the vibes of each sorority here? Obviously a lot are similar but I want to know what the general reputation is like for each to help me see which one is the right fit. My friends at others schools have to meet sorority girls over summer so I want to know before I reach out and have a better chance at getting in.

Wait so I should or shouldn’t reach out? I’m getting mixed comments. Like my friends at some schools have to reach out to girls like in their area to get into a house they want and get basically get a pre bid so they know which house they’re getting before rush. Since Miami is in the south and it looks competitive bc everyone is so pretty and wealthy what do I need to do to help me get into a house?

Reaching out will not help you and if anything could hurt you. Active members aren’t technically supposedly to interact too much with pnms prior to recruitment and they would think you reaching out is hella weird. Best thing you can do is meet girls in the fall and get a vibe for yourself. Then go in to recruitment with an open mind.
As far as the vibes of each one, that is very subjective… really hard to describe

Do I need to meet a lot of sorority girls to get in? Like go on rush dates in the fall? My friends at other schools knew which house they’d be in before rush started.

When you say stay out of their lane do you mean just don’t cause trouble or don’t like interact with them at all? Won’t I be at a disadvantage if I don’t know enough sorority girls before rush?

youre going to naturally interact with some upperclassmen so dont make it weird or go out of your way to avoid them but girls can tell when youre only getting close to them because of their sorority status and no you will not be at a disadvantage it really does not help because theres so many girls rushing and theyll make sure the girls that will talk to you while youre rushing inside the chapters do not previously know you. dont make rushing your biggest worry because even the girls that arent in sororities get the same privileges as long as youre a pretty and normal girl

Greek life is pretty big at um imo
Maybe not sec big but its pretty important
Midwest and south is where greek life is important
Florida is part of south
