how does informal recruitment work??

It depends every year but I’ll try to explain it from a panhel standpoint. Basically every semester they find out (I think) the average or ideal number of people in a sorority, and the three sororities below that number can do informal. They can fall below for any reason, ie study abroad, more than average people graduating, drops, etc- I’m not sure if it’s the average number or something else. But the sororities basically decide how they do informal- sometimes they only need a few girls so they just pick friends of sisters, others that need maybe 10 or so people may do parties in their suites or assign sisters to get to know pledges. It’s not usually heavily advertised, so I’d recommend emailing panhel if you’re interested- in the past few years I know adpi, chio, tridelt and zeta have all done informal. I think because this year is so weird it will start a little later this year for spring if it happens, so that’s why you may not have heard. I think more sororities do it in the fall once people graduate, because that’s a big thing that can mess with numbers and study abroad since we might have vaccines. I would keep a lookout then, good luck!
