Coming from a PNM, the way rush happened this year was so messed up and janky that I feel as though the girls joining pi phi are path pavers and ones who don’t want a stereotype to identify them. To join pi phi means to join a sorority that is great nationally and will be a great on our resumes to be a founder. These girls aren’t going to be ones that just wanna join a sorority for the hell of it cause everyone like that would be in Chi O (they’re super sweet no hate). Girls I rushed who were beautiful and smart didn’t get their top houses and IMO, it’s better to go somewhere that can be built then somewhere that’s not your #1.

Kind of sad u would rather join a sorority with no one in it than be in chi o, which genuinely has nice people and a good sisterhood. U think ur gonna pave the way by being in pi phi but I promise everyone else is going to think you guys are just desperate girls who didn’t get a bid tbh

Idk about either of these posts and saying just join chio isn’t a great answer, cuz maybe they didn’t have that option if they dropped or they just weren’t feeling rush. But frankly if the top is actually a PNM not a pi phi recruiter here’s something you should know about UM. Every group has a “stereotype” whether it’s a club sorority major whatever. Whether you let that stereotype define you instead of enjoying the friendships you can make in any given group is up to you. And if you choose or don’t choose to do something because of the stereotypes instead of the people, you’re gonna have a rough time here because no matter what group you’re in someone will have something bad to say and you gotta let it roll off your back.
