Rushing in the Fall?
by: UM
How normal is it for sophomore guys to rush in the fall at our school? I rushed like 2 frats this semester but ended up not joining this semester bc I had a bunch of stuff going on/was involved with other things but I've been interested in joining greek life for a while. I think personality wise greek life is definitely something for me and it would make my college experience even better than it's been so far. If I rush next semester I'd most likely look at the frats I didn't rush this semester, just to get a feel for what else is out there.
Have any of you guys rushed/know someone who rushed in the fall as a sophomore? How was your experience? Appreciate it in advance

Rushed Fall '19, take my 2 cents FWIW:
PROS
-Less pressure to get a bid since it's less kids rushing, and you're a soph so you might already know kids in the frat
-Smaller PC, which means you're all super tight and know each other really well. Make sure you really like at least some of the guys, or else it's gonna be a hell of a semester
CONS
-Pledging's brutal compared to spring, especially since it's tougher to "blend in". You get away with almost nothing.
-A lot of Greek kids form cliques from freshman year (same PC/same freshman floor/etc.) so it can be tough to fit in, at least at the start
-Things get busier as a sophomore so it's harder to balance vs. pledging as a freshman
Anyways it's definitely a great time, totally worth it in the end. My GPA got dinged a bit but it's still an unforgettable experience. Although I'd prefer spring, fall rush is great if you're set on Greek Life and know you can benefit from it. Good luck homie!
