The tiers are known by everyone. Greeks may have a slight minority but they run campus and have a much more dominant influence.

Independents as a whole could care less about any tiers. (The only ones who worry about tiers as a whole are the ones who are afraid someone might not think they are in a high tier!) As for dating, many sorority girls date independents! Look in the wedding sections of any newspaper and you will see that there are lots of people who marry others who are either not in a sorority or fraternity. Really, you need to gain some maturity if you honestly think everyone in the Greek system goes around for the rest of their life living as if they are in a sorority or fraternity. As for running the campus, Greeks are dominant for sure, but there are plenty of independents in all the organizations! Many are head of them. That's what makes AU so great, it is not one dimensional.

The auburn greek system is changing- about 60% of girls are greek and 40% of guys. There are more student leaders who are Greek than non-Greek, and Greek life on average makes better grades and have more of an opportunity to network and connect. GDI'a do have some idea of how the Greek system works, but also remember that there is a difference between GDI's and non-Greeks. GDI's could probably care less about your letters, while non-Greeks respect the organization you pledged to a part of. Ultimately, just go for a fraternity where you feel the most comfortable, because you'll still get the connections and experience from just about any of them.

Lots of girls date independents, and yes, that means the top tier ones also. Nothing wrong at all with that. A lot of guys just don't go for the fraternity way of life.

Most GDI's like SK, DZ, KKG, and ZTA because those sororities are full of chill down to earth girls.

with the other posts that says a lot of the sorority girls date independents. I know many in each sorority do. The guys are usually more down to earth and not trying to show off to other guys.
