PNMS! DONT BE AFRIAD OF CHAPTERS THAT COB

by: Rating

Many people like to make it seem negative when chapters offer COB Bids- meanwhile many chapters aim to accept cobs in an effort to be inclusive.

COB is not something that pnm's should aspire to as a rush strategy. Spring bids are NOT a secondary rush; some houses never offer spring bids, those that do often already know who they are offering them to, and just because a house does it one spring doesn't mean they will the next spring or offer the same number of bids. It's nothing for pnm's to count on. Every pnm's best chance for a bid to her best fit house is ALWAYS fall recruitment.

Sororities that COB include Theta, Kappa, Tri Sig, and sometimes others like SK, GPhi, and AOPI

you can look at past years and see that almost all chapters have sometimes taken new spring members including chio pi phi alpha gam zta phi mu tri delt, kkg, dg etc. there is no “usually”. Some that you list above did not “actively recruit” in spring but rather offered membership to friends of the chapter to fill spots left by December grads.

A chapter taking new members in the spring is absolutely no indication of a chapters desirability, retention rate, pledge class size. All / most chapters in any given year will have available spots for membership mostly due to December grads, transfers, etc. Sometimes a chapter may choose to offer one or a few of those spots to someone they know / friend of members / someone they think would be an asset who has expressed interest. This is different than chapters that actively recruit through events in the spring and offer membership through COB. Regardless, you can look back and see historically that at some point almost every chapter has had new spring members, from the “top” to the “bottom”.
