formal rush

Are you still able to get a bid from fraternities if you miss the summer events? Does it hurt your chances if you are only able to come for formal rush?

If you want to be considered by better fraternities you need to show up to summer events. By the time formal rush rolls around there are few good fraternities that are giving bids

But yes, it can hurt your chances. Sometimes it's better to wait until Spring Rush when you'll actually be in town to go to events. But there are also some fraternities that have small "welcome back" cookouts in August right before/after school starts. You can definitely get a bid at that time.

you can get one during formal rush but its alot easier to get one during summer or during "move in week" before classes start. Theres normally a lot of parties and stuff trying to get guys up to their house. Thats when most out of state guys get their bids
