Sororities eligible for COB 2024

by: COB

Here are the sororities eligible for COB for Spring of 2024:

SK
AXID
KKG
KAO
XO
DG
AOPI
Tri Sig

Also Note: To be eligible, you have to have a certain amount of girls drop in the sorority so Panhellenic releases this information. These sororities can choose to COB or not. The ones FOR SURE doing COB in Spring of 2024 are SK, AXID, KAO, KKG, and Tri Sig.
Congratulations to the sororities who did not qualify!

Every single sorority is 'eligible' in one semester or another to COB so there is nothing derogatory or congratulatory in that status. Anyone who doesn't understand that is ignorant of how it works.

I think the congrats is really congrats on member retention, having a good rush, meeting your quota. The sororities who consistently do these things don’t need to COB.

"I always find this interesting" is some middle aged woman who comes on here all the time and is way too invested but ignorant of how it actually works. The second most ignorant is the member who hasn't actually participated on a recruitment committee or in panhellenic.

Stop with the congratulations, that is so ignorant. Members graduate in December, go on study abroad, and take internships. This puts any sorority under Chapter Total from time to time, and Chapter Total is reset every semester by panhellenic. When a membership goes below whatever this number is in any given semester, they can offer bids up to that number if they wish. And in every sorority there are girls who transfer to another school or who realize that greek life is not for them, as well as having some seniors who decide they've had enough of sorority life and focus on graduating and life after college.

It is NOT about girls dropping, it is NOT about not making Quota in the fall, that is just trying to villify chapters. There is nothing wrong with dipping below Total, there is nothing wrong with a chapter that COBs.

YES!! YES!! COB is not bad, and people should not put the connotation that COB means a chapter was “desperate” to meet quota.

this community is supposed to be supportive to all chapters. why not say congratulations to the other chapters? including the ones who are scared to openly say they are COB-ing. greek life is wonderful and COB gives girls the opportunity to join a sisterhood.

Members who study abroad or take internships would still be members. Your explanation is reaching. COB’ing is not necessarily a bad thing, but top tier sororities don’t COB. The sororities on that list are not top tier - that’s not even debatable. And the every single sorority is eligible to COB comment, no. There is plenty of historic data from Panhellenic available if you really want to see it.

Top sororities most definitely do offer spring bids and there is data to back this up. COB by top sororities is kept on the DL because they only have a few bids to offer and already know who they want them to go to. They aren't actively looking or announcing, they just give them out. Just because they aren't on a list doesn't mean they didn't offer some bids already.

You have no clue what you are talking about. You think Panhellenic just keeps things on the “DL”? They release reports each semester TO THE PUBLIC. Top sororities aren’t out there giving secret bids. Please provide this data you speak of on the DL bids. 😅

It's an NPC rule that any sorority can offer a COB at any time after bid day if they go below Total without making a public announcement or asking panhellenic for permission. It's not a secret when a sorority offers a COB, they just TELL panhellenic that a nm has accepted a bid and they make sure the paperwork is filed with panhellenic. Just because YOU don't know about it, just because YOU don't know the actual rules doesn't mean it doesn't happen. Y'all act like COB is a spring mini rush; it isn't and never has been. It's not a panhellenic thing, it's a chapter choice and the list is a convenience for chapters who are actively seeking new members, not for chapters that are below Total but don't need to announce openings.
