What sororities do COB/ what are odds of getting a bd

by:

Hey, PNM Here!! What sororities typically do COB? And what are the odds of getting a bid this year? I don’t really want to go through rush because I have a lot going on (grandmothers death, etc) and would rather much wait it out. Thanks!

It's really hard to tell from year to year and definitely not something you can count on. Some are super quiet about it and you really only have a chance if you already know somebody.
Rush registration has broken a record for this year so they may have more girls pledge too.
I am sorry about your grandmother.

It varies every year, you don’t know till rush is completely over, and I’m sorry about your grandmother.

They won’t know until after recruitment.

COB is kind of limiting. You always have a better chance of getting a bid through formal recruitment than you do through COB any year. This year a COB could be even harder. This year there are so many girls going through that signs point to record New Member classes and House Total, so unless a sorority really, really needs to grow their membership, there won't be many COBs this year. Often COBs go to girls a sorority met and liked in recruitment who dropped out, so not going through recruitment at all would make it hard, and you would have to get to know a lot of other actives in many houses as best you can elsewhere. It does happen though for a few girls. Houses don't really announce that they have COBs to give and just offer them on the DL, so you wouldn't know they were looking unless they offered you one. There is no spring recruitment week or any formal COB events like in the fall. I am not sure if you don't want to go through recruitment, or don't want to join this semester, that would be too much for you for what you've got in your life now, but if you go through recruitment you can decide to drop before pref, and that could be an option for you to at least see and be seen. It's not conventional advice, but these are not conventional times. I think you will find Auburn to be generally a very friendly place.

you could also sign up for online recruitment this year, so you can still participate but its less intense

I would really recommend going through recruitment this fall if you think that it is something that you can do. If not, rush fall 2022. Really as a COB you will miss out on so much in the fall and it’s really not the same. so I highly recommend to do it this year or wait until the next.

If you think you want to be part of Greek life, I would go ahead and go through rush if at all possible. Today is the last day to register I think!
