Sororites and Legacies

by: question

I'm curious to know if there are any sororities that guarantee legacies to go through that meet the GPA requirement?

No-they don’t have to and legacies from other schools don’t matter at all. But many girls who have moms that went to auburn get in as a legacy. But usually those girls are out of place and you can spot those who got in as a legacy and not on her own. I would personally want to get in because they really wanted me and not because I’m a legacy.

The correct answer is that there are NO guarantees for legacies. There are too many of them, and many nationals are dropping their requirements for legacy courtesies because of it. People who say that a girl was taken just because she's an Auburn legacy "and not on her own" don't know what they're talking about and just seem bitter and jealous.

Tri Sigma, a few weeks ago changed their bylaws per their national website. They used to guarantee legacies through first round of recruitment, but now they don't guarantee them at all. They want to be more inclusive and not put people of different races at an unfair advantage.

It doesn't really put anyone at an unfair advantage, though. Sororities pledge and drop who they want.

Yes it does cause if a POC came through rush, they could be dropped because a legacy that HAS to go through the first round took their opportunity to be in that sorority from them. ie: A POC wouldn't have a 90 year old grandma that's an alumni of a collegiate chapter like a white girl would.

There are NPC members, women of color, whose daughters are or will be rushing soon and they are upset for their legacies too. Thank heavens that my sorority and most others saw this for what it was, a weak ploy to look woke with a truly ineffective policy. If a sorority wants a woman of any color, they will find a way to keep her.

You can look at any national website and read the legacy policy. My legacy only required I be asked back to philanthropy as a curtesy. I knew it wasn’t the fit for me at IWTs so I wasn’t upset when I wasn’t asked back for sisterhood. I know very few girls who pledge their legacy house and it’s never guaranteed.
