Auburn University - AU 3.0 Welcome to Auburn, where we USED to have one of the best greek scenes in the country. Now, we are oppressed by an authoritarian administration with pipe dreams of becoming an Ivy League caliber liberal school. This criminals running this place sit back and milk every cent out of us while destroying any forms of fun outside of school. We can’t drink, we can’t have parties, everything has to be fair and equal. If you’re looking for a great college experience, DONT come to Auburn.

Auburn University - AU 2.8 As an incoming freshman I was excited for the true fraternity experience. I thought that we could host parties whenever we felt like it and the chapter could buy drinks and serve them out in the open. I thought that we could invite as many people as we wanted to and truly resemble what a social fraternity is supposed to be. However, all of these assumptions about greek life in Auburn are false. Student affairs has launched a full scale attack on greek life at Auburn and it seems as if they want to completely wipe out the system. A fraternity here can only host eleven parties per semester which is less than one per week. At many other schools, frats party 2-3 times per week and the school doesn't care unless there is a problem. Additionally, the way alcohol is served at party is weird because it's either byo or you have to hire a bartending service to sell drinks. Because we are unable to use chapter funds to buy drinks and throw a minimal amount parties, you will end up spending a ton of money between going downtown and buying alcohol on your own. Also, if you your not in the "top" 3-4 sororities and fraternities, people will look down upon you without even getting a chance to know you. Honestly, there is not top tier frat or sorority because the whole system is messed up and it doesn't matter what you join because greek life is so afraid of student affairs that no one is willing to take a risk to improve their chapter. If you want to be part of a true fraternity I would go somewhere else in the SEC because Auburn greek life is like being under house arrest, ya your in frat but you can't really do anything.

Auburn University - AU 2.8 As a freshman, I was so exited to finally rush and join a brotherhood, I could not have been more let down. The Greek life here is not good at all. The main problem is, the bigger organizations have so many members that you will most likely not even know half your brothers or sisters. Brotherhood or sisterhood is NONEXISTANT. Then, the smaller organizations are looked down upon so much that no one wants to associate with them UNLESS they throw a party. Why does it matter that they throw a party when the other big fraternities throw bangers all the time right? Right? Wrong. IFC here is god awful. EVERY PARTY HAS TO BE REGISTERED. Registered means no liquor, no drinking games and you can only bring six beers or 4 wine coolers in that you have to give to the bouncer, and then give to the bartender to “redeem” your drink, which they are most likely out of. IFC walks through in the already regestered event usually twice and if they see ANYONE with anything not within the rules your organization is most likely on social probation for a year or two, or kicked off. Auburn Greek life is like having a party at your house while your parents are chaperoning, watching your every move, and just when it starts to get fun it gets shut down.

Auburn University - AU 2.5 Auburn's social scene is like it's football team, it sucks. Sororities don't have houses, and instead are inside the dorms. The fraternities are spread everywhere across campus, making it hard to get form one to the other. The parties are monitored, and no liquor or beer pong is allowed. To top this off there is only about 4 good fraternities and 4 good sororities here. KA, Fiji, Theta Chi, Snu, KD, Alpha Gam, Phi Mu, and adpi. If you don't get into those your social life is gonna be pretty much dead from a popularity standpoint. And they all look down on other people too. Auburn is nothing but a small cliquey town, with nothing to do. Plan on going to the bars with your brothers? Hoep you have fun at the exact same three every time. Go anywhere else in the sec if you want to have fun in college.

Auburn University - AU 3.0 Joining a fraternity sucks unless you are in the so-called "Big 4" aka Theta Chi, Sigma Nu, KA, and Fiji. It's stupidly superficial around here. Sorority girls give total preferential treatment of those guys, disregarding the fact that they're extremely arrogant and no better than anyone else, only because they're in the "best" fraternities. Same goes for parties and literally anything those houses do. Don't get me wrong, I really like my brothers, but I didn't come here to relive high school 2.0

Auburn University - AU 2.8 The administration has teamed up with Panhellenic and IFC to systematically destroy everything enjoyable about greek life. As if Auburn wasn't already the lowest caliber greek system in the SEC, the top brass tries to go lower. To top it off, the girls in the sororities here, and one of the fraternities (KA), are some of the most pretentious daddy's girls (and momma's boys) I've ever witnessed. Go to Bama, UGA, Miss, or anywhere else in the conference.
