fraternity affordability?

by: rushee

How affordable are UCI fraternities? I saw another post that was an estimate and said the IFC ones cost more. I'll be paying by myself and I'm only really able to spend $850 for the first quarter dues and would prefer to keep the rest of my quarters at $500 or less of dues. Is that realistic even with the top houses?

Honestly with that budget you'll be fine

Dues alone should range from 1100-1500 first year depending on the frat (including new member dues for those who charge it)

Then add for parties, vegas formals, other events etc

1800 is more than enough

Dues alone tend to be around 400 +/- 50 wherever you go. Your budget may work depending on if you are including the money you'd spend on food, alcohol, etc as you're going to be out a lot more because you're going to be exposed to a lot of hoes and a whole new community of people trying to get to know you!

our chapter is cheaper during your pledge quarter (~150 total) and then 450 per quarter after, which covers everything from parties to formal to retreat. we also give scholarships to those who get above a certain gpa. catch us at the involvement fair

Should be around 1,500 or so for the first year. Don't forget that also includes paying for alcohol/ various other expenses.

I'm in a "top" tier fraternity and we pay 360 per quarter, however you don't pay dues while pledging. You pay a small pledging fee and dont have to pay dues until you are initiated.
