rushing again as a sophomore

by:

I rushed last year when I was a freshman. I didn't get a bid from the house I truly want because I was being cut on the 4th day (the day before Bid Day), instead, I got one from a house that was kinda like my second choice because I thought I can fit in well in that house. However, after I went to some of their events, I realized that the house wasn't right for me. I couldn't fit in with my pledge class. After a week or so, I dropped it.
Now i'm thinking of rushing again as a Sophomore but is it possible to get into the house that I really want? Are they going to know that I rushed last year and cut me again? Should I rush during this fall or should i just rush in winter? (Since I've already been to all the houses and I know which one I really want) Also, I wasn't really involved in my first year because I focused on my academics and made a lot of new friends (but they weren't in any sororitys) are they going to take me if I wasn't reallly involved in any clubs?

Well is it your #1 choice or bust? Or are you interested in Greek life in general and are okay "settling" for your second choice (if applicable)

for starters, if you didn't get a bid it's likely because actives did not see you as a fit in their chapter for whatever reason or you didn't make it out to enough events. However there is so much turnover in Greek life that you have nothing to lose to rush again. Yes some, if not most, people will remember you but if you're truly a chill dude and make it to the events you should get a bid. Your involvement in school isn't a big deal.

I'd also rush one more frat in case you get denied a bid. Maybe try the frat you got a bid from again and see if you vibe with the new PC. I honestly feel like you had doubts and didn't give it a chance because you still longed for your #1 and didn't give it time. One week is too short to really get to know an entire chapter. And if they bidded you originally they obviously feel you're more quality as opposed to the other frat

Fall tends to be more selective because so many people come out. But the fall rush experience is by far the best and it's not even close.

Tldr; rush in fall. Rush your top 2 choices. Decide after 2 weeks

Hi!! Thank you for your advice! But I'm a girl though rushing in fall means I'll have to go to all the houses again... and I've also heard that sororities care about your involvement in school a lot :/ and that if they know you've rushed once already last year then they probably won't accept you,.. so that's why I'm really concerned

Ahhh yeah that changes things. For guys it's way easier

Unless you changed something about yourself it's going to be somewhat hard to get a bid. If it's the top 3, especially top 2, they have been dirty rushing all summer so your chances aren't as good in fall because they already have agreements in place with PNMs who go through recruitment. They can only take so many.

And then winter and spring it depends if they do recruitment and some just go off a referral basis. If you need to do the most just to better your odds it's not worth it. You'll have a great experience in any house no matter what. Go through recruitment again and maybe the actives you meet this time around might like you more. express desire to be involved and this is one way of doing so.

I'd just go through the process again and see which house I click with. If you don't get the house you want again then you don't need them. Why want a house who doesn't see you as a fit? just give the other houses a chance and you'll have an awesome experience

Just my take. I'm sure girls who have been in your shoes could give you better advice!

Top 3 sororities and top 5 fraternities are fairly hard to get into - if you've been rejected once, maybe it's best to look elsewhere? If they don't want you do you really want to be in their sorority?
