how strict is each chapter meeting at the sorority

by: Curious

I am interested in joining a sorority but not sure if it is for me.
I hear ADPi has to wear a dress to chapter and the straps need to be at least 3 finger widths wide(no strapless) May be even a certain length..

I was wondering iF all the sororities are this strict in how you look, or are some more relaxed. Thanks

I assure you that chapter attire is the least of your worries when joining a sorority.

Almost every single chapter requires you to wear business casual/formal to chapter- a dress, nice dress pants, blazer, etc.

My chapter will alternate between "snappy casual" (real clothes instead of workout clothes, but basically whatever), business casual, and professional dress. Just buy something you like enough to wear each week and you'll be fine. It's once a week, being in a sorority is worth wearing a dress once in a while! :)

My chapter only requires a dress at formal chapter. It is once a month(if that) and it can be any dress..strapless is fine
The other 3 chapters of the month we can wear whatever....very casual

and I am in one of the top sororities consistently mentioned on this site

Yes hi ZTA we know. You have the most relaxed rules on chapter out of all houses though, it's not like you take the sisterhood portion of a sorority seriously or anything.

Seriously... I'm in another not so top tier house and we have the same rules as the original poster's house does. No need to bash top tier houses to make yourself feel better about being in a bottom tier

formal chapter meetings are generally business casual attire so its not unreasonable for them to ask you to not wear thin straps/really short dresses. Totally fine to wear that kind of thing to socials and what not though

I mean formal chapter is supposed to be nice. Think attire you would wear to church or a nice dinner with your grandparents. That's why they don't want spaghetti straps or really short dresses.

This shouldn't be a big deal in your decision.
That said, sometimes chapters do dress down fundraising meetings where you pay money into a pool that is sometimes raffled but usually at least half gets donated to a philanthropy
