You declare you want to run for an office and someone has to second the motion, which then gets approved. Or, someone nominates you, then someone seconds that motion. All candidates for an office are then "slated", meaning listed on a ballot and the chapter votes. Only a senior can run for president. Juniors and seniors can run for the higher offices/positions of vice presidents, treasurer, secretary, et cetera. Sophomores can hold the lower offices/positions.

In my house last year no one wanted run for the higher offices so they had to force girls into it. Those positions each had only one person running and those were mostly girls with super easy majors who had a lot of free time. E. Board offices are thankless jobs and you tend to make some enemies. I don't want to discourage you but I think you should know some of the bad stuff!
