greek life in general

there's a lot of talk on this website about a lot of things; obviously ranks and sisterhood and what makes a "good" sorority so great. I just wanted to give my story, just maybe for a little bit of insight idk. But I'm in a chapter on campus considered middle and "rising"/top middle/idek. I personally do not care about the social status (or at least I try not to) of my chapter, but many girls definitely get caught up in the tier system. I love the girls in my sorority very much, but literally this school is so focused on tiers and social status so much that it consumes people. I've seen my close friends go into certain chapters and totally change and not talk to me anymore because I'm not "top" (people I have been friends with for years, including guys). And even for some of the girls in my own house, saying that some girls shouldn't go to certain frats because it'll "make us look bad". For guys, they will literally choose a girl in a top house to go on date functions/whatever over a middle or bottom one that they may like more, even if she is uglier than the other two!! (Not that looks should matter, but just to make a point)
Basically, lately I feel uneasy about Greek life and have considered dropping. Like I said before, I love all the girls in my house and I've made my best friends here and I am so greatful for that. But I've also seen people turn into monsters. Am I the only one who feels this way?
